Mr Tarek Katbeh

Mr. Tarek Katbeh is a Consultant General, Upper Gastrointestinal, and Bariatric Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. He completed his medical degree at Baghdad University in 2003 before moving to the UK, where he undertook comprehensive surgical training across Scotland and England. Over more than a decade of postgraduate training, he gained wide-ranging experience in general, Upper Gastrointestinal, and weight loss surgery. Mr. Katbeh completed a recognised Royal College of Surgeons of England fellowships in bariatric and upper GI surgery and is accredited with the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Surgery from the GMC. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS). His training also included advanced endoscopy, minimally invasive surgery, and trauma care, ensuring a comprehensive skill set across complex surgical fields. Recognised for his expertise, Mr. Katbeh is regularly invited to contribute to national and international surgical courses and conferences. He also serves as Emergency Biliary Service Lead and Major Trauma Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals on gallbladder, bile duct, and upper GI surgery, and remains dedicated to teaching and mentoring future surgeons alongside his clinical practice.
